Hub City Animal Project
Ending animal homelessness in Spartanburg County
Sad fact: In Spartanburg County each year, more than 8,000 dogs and cats of all ages are picked up as strays or turned into local shelters. Good news: In the last four years, the Hub City Animal Project has awarded $250,000 in grants to expand spay/neuter programs, educate children and families on proper animal care, and subsidize costs of veterinary care in low-income communities.
We joined forces with the HCAP team, providing them with an array of marketing, storytelling, graphic design, website, and social media services to support their project with a purpose.
Spreading the Word
Through authentic, heartfelt messaging and carefully crafted design, we built Hub City Animal Project a website that shows how they’re making an impact through advocacy, relationships, and education for the humane treatment of animals.

The World’s Smartest Dog
Hub City Animal Project has plans to help erect a bronze statue of Chaser, the world’s smartest dog, in downtown Spartanburg. Chaser the border collie, who passed away in July 2019, is known around the world as “the dog who knows 1,000 words.” She was a Spartanburg native. We put our press and media relations and our social media engagement expertise to work to share the story of Chaser and her human, Dr. John Pilley, and how their unique relationship translates into human education.
Paws and Give Love
We created the “Paws & Give Love” campaign, featuring three local teams of compassionate young animal lovers raising funds to support the Hub City Animal Project and animals in need.
From t-shirt design and in-hand deliverable creation to handmade dog treats, we worked to activate the community’s awareness of animal homelessness. At the end of the campaign, the teams had surpassed their goal of $3,000 (they raised $10,000) to help as many animals as possible get spay/neuter surgery, medications, and vaccines.
“The Launch Something team has been an invaluable resource for our nonprofit and critical to our growth and success. We came to them with a limited budget, and they provided stellar marketing collaterals, website design, and social media support. They offered brilliant solutions to our marketing and social media questions while improving upon every idea we presented to them. Their dedication to helping others understand and support our mission has been invaluable, and we are so grateful!”
